what would cause the tail lights not to work on a 2007 vrscx ?

 

does the brake light still work? I'd check the bulb then follow the wire back...I have one of those 12 V test lights that has the sharp needle on it...I poke it thru the wiring insulation an check for 12 v an follow the circuit until it doesn't light up.
