Default Wiring extension kit 2017 SGS for 14"apes.

I'll be installing 14" apes on my 2017 SGS and I want to make sure I order the right extended wiring to do the job. Looks like there are kits available from J&P Cycles among some other places. Are these the same wiring harnesses you get from H-D? If someone could offer some good advice or a link showing what I need to buy it would be greatly appreciated.

Originally i was going to try and use the stock wiring but I'm not sure it's worth the trouble after watching the install for the bars on youtube.

These are the Factory47 14" bars.

Bump.

Can someone point me in the right direction? As I understand it I need an extension for the throttle by wire and one for the controls. I'm looking for plug and play and also need to know which length I need to install 14" bars. I was going to order the Factory47 but may end up going with the KST Mayhem bars instead. Appreciate the help.

i put 14" apes on my fxstc, but i had the handlebars before i ordered the wires so it was easy for me to put on the new handlebars and just visually see how much extension i would need. You have to be carefull though, what looks like might be enough might not be because if you put the wires inside the bars you have to account for that, and all the bends. Ive heard its a good idea to have the bars, put them on and take a piece of string and mock it up. either way, once you think you know how much extension you need order this through Amazon:

Namz 4" Handlebar Wiring Extension Harness for most 2007-2013 Harley Davidson Dyna, Softail and Sportster models.

They also have 6" extension kits...and longer. And you can find the kit that fits your year bike. Its all of $25 with free shipping. You can also order off amazon the throttle by wire extension kits. Mine was the "plug and play" kit but i would suggest soldering the connections before shrink wrapping them. You dont have to though, i believe your bike the extensions literally are just plug and play...no soldering needed...it think its just one plug for the whole wiring harness...lucky you! Good luck.
