2001 Electraglide alarm keeps going off
Hi guys,I have owned this 01'bagger for 10 years and have never heard the alarm.I have had a battery maintainer on just like always.all of a sudden the alarm starts chirping and then goes off in the garage....nobody around and the key fob in the house.I never used the fob so I replaced the battery in the fob, went to the garage and hit the button twice and the lights flashed and it stopped.half hour later it did the same thing ,so I did it again, again it went off by itself. Now I armed it and then disarmed it,same thing happens ,this time longer though.only way to stop is to unhook battery..I did, left set overnight and reconnected in the morning......thought it worked but 2 hours later same thing.....this is driving me nuts..I've done nothing different to the bike !I realize that I don't ride a lot (it's only got 17k on it)...Please help me figure this out........Thanks Tim

Because Best Buy is 1 mile from where I work and a dealer is much, much farther. Also got a very good battery for $9.99

Alrighty,I have successfully found the problem ! I located the siren box, disconnected it and carefully opened it up.The neg side of the clip was welded to the terminal and the battery was slightly distorted (not bad for 17 years old) other than that the inside of the housing was in good shape and dry.....my next question is a three part....1) can I solder a new connector onto the existing wires and get a new battery and reuse the existing siren, 2) do I have to get a new siren ..or 3) can the battery just be left out of the housing and replugged into the system (understanding that the alarm will be inoperative ?
