I have been soldering longer than 40 years. Lot of people probably consider me to be an old fart but I am always willing to try new things.

They work great, have always heard them refered to as melt-ons in the trades. Have been around for quite a while. Not sure I would throw out soldering equipment though.

Not at all. I'm asking you if they really work as advertised as opposed to just believing the advertisement, because the ad would be bias.
Sorry if I didn't type it slow enough for you to understand.

If the wire has been exposed to the elements for whatever reason the wire turns black or green. All the flux core in the world isn't going to make a solid solder joint if you're starting off on shakey ground. I use muriatic acid to clean the wires first every time and have a 100% solid trustworthy joint 100% of the time. And without the mess the flux resin creates in the process.

Looks like shrink wrap plastic and a low-melt solder that you can do with a heat gun - small country mechanics might have a heat gun but might not have a soldering iron.

The job is a one-fix-work... heats, solders, shrink wraps, waterproof, all in one go, possibly even out on the road with one of those blow-torch style cigarette lighters.

I;m guessing though - I also would like to see an independent review/opinion.

Edit:

I found some for sale on Amazon UK - 93% 4 or 5 star reviews... BUT.. Fakespot says those reviews are likely to be fake - and it something need sfakes reviews then it can't be that good.

FakeSpot - keep this link handy

even out on the road with one of those blow-torch style cigarette lighters ... Good idea ... as I stated earlier in this thread my bus garage uses them regularly with great success

While these are great, Most of the wiring I do is adding in an additional wire. Do they have a 3 way? At that point, the adhesive type shrink tube seems better.

Add;

BTW these have been around forever. I first saw them in about 1980. Military / Marine equipment uses them.. They also use nylon insulated wire which have a higher melting temp than PVC.
