Just out of curiosity - no powercommander is installed - correct?

Actually there is. I dont remember the name of it, but it plugs into the injectors and then the stock connectors plug into it. There is a small control box, 1 lead to + on battery, another to - on battery. It was on the bike when I bought it.

That style shouldn't matter as it's merely a pulse width modifier and should get rpm information from the injector signal itself. While I doubt it will make a difference, you could simply plug the harness back to the injectors and retest. I was looking to see if there was a device between the harness and the ECM. By testing this way you could be sure that no add on devices are affecting the issue. At least that eliminates another variable.
