Can someone please tell me how to change the background color on an 09 Electra glide speedo with the spun aluminum gauge. Thanks for your help.

Are you wanting to change the color of the back lights or indicator face?

Default Color Change

Hi there, as far as I know the background and dial color is one and the same. I know the all in one guages on the dyna or softail, can be changed in many ways, but not the electra glide.

If it is constructed like the other black and white face models, then you can pull them apart and replace the amber surface mount LEDs with whatever color you want. There are a couple of good videos on YouTube showing and explaining how to do this pretty well. I changed over from amber to blue over the holidays. I would not recommend this if you are not patient and good with a soldering iron.

Hi there, I guess I didn't explain things fully when I started this thread. I bought these gauges used and am putting them in my bike. They were red when I bought them, so I sent the speedo away to have the mileage reset to the actual miles on my bike. The gauge was red when I sent it away and it came back yellow. They didn't change the bulbs, and I believe they can be changed much like the same Spun Aluminum Gauges on Softails can be. The yellow may be the default color. I'm wanting to know if anyone knows the input sequence that can change the background colors. I have Harley working on this so hopefully I will hear from them soon.......

Interesting! I did some searching and found a video on YouTube explaining how do what you are wanting to do by going through a sequence to open the setup mode and configuring the system. The video goes through how to select this function and change colors on a softtail custom speedo/tach...that is so cool!

Your maintenance manual probably walks you through it. Sure beats what I had to go through to change speedo and tach back light colors!
