Engine Mechanical TopicsDiscussion for motor builds, cams, head work, stripped bolts and other engine related issues. The good and the bad. If it goes round and around or up and down, post it here.
I posted in the touring section asking if anyone had experience or knowledge with this cam, but no replies yet. I was hoping to get some feedback in here.
So a guy that is, or used to be, an aircraft machinist decides to put his effort towards buying flow equipment and working on Harley's. I'm ok with that. His heads have proven to make great power and he does clean work. It seems to me that if he's bought the equipment to flow heads properly and puts his time and effort into it, then he is actually doing it for a living. I've been real happy dealing with him on multiple occasions now and his work speaks for itself.
All I did was post to the OP that Don had recommended those cams to me as solid performers and you then piped in that he doesn't do this for an actual living. Like that somehow disqualifies his recommendation?? He builds heads that make great power and he's seen what cams are used in the process. Whether or not the guy has two jobs means nothing. I'm an old aircraft guy. I promise you that I am more **** than 95% of the Harley mechanics out there. If Don is an aircraft guy, then I promise you that he's more **** than 95% of the Harley mechanics out there too.
No disqualification whatsoever.
But what I do have, is a genuine issue with folks that try to hide behind the cloak of the internet posing as something they are not.
This brick and mortar businees here has put my children thru college, paid mortgages, etc, etc, etc.
Why not just walk away from the comfort of that day job with all the juicy perks and do it full time??
No need to answer that........I already know the answer.
I too worked for MacDonnell-Douglas, did work for Martin-Marrietta, and Hughes as well making the driveshaft ship-sets for the AH-64 Apaches.........big freakin' deal.
If NOT being a poser, or a phoney, quantifies me as being a "dick", or whatever name you'd like to call me, then so be it.
A good suggestion to you might be to tone your cyber-muscles down a notch or two though..........
Take a look a the TW-555 from Woods cams. consistent with stockers and if you're going with minor head work and a .030 head gasket hang on it's got a good long torque curve....
