The late oil pans with the baffle fixed to the bottom of the pan are very difficult to clean; some I know did not even bother after a motor melt down and just replace the pan.

Default pan a bit of pain to clean

I expected the top baffle to be bolted on but once I got it out found out the aluminum studs are kind of melted peened over to hold the plate down. takes at bit of tilting pan side to side to make the fluid run around the bulkheads. I was looking for a few pieces of roller lifter that pitted years ago. I never did find any of it in the cam chest when I discovered the problem. bike was stalling at stop lights, I think some of the pieces plugged up the lifter and it was collapsing without being pumped up. new lifters new cams, didn't stall anymore, been driving it for about 5 years after lifter failure. took my 103 kit off in the summer put 96 stuff back on , measured lifter bores for wear. no marks in lifter bores, check crank run out, doing 107 kit now, just figured id completely clean the motor out this time around, hopefully the last time Ill have it apart. just glad the lifter started acting up long before it totally self destructed and damaged the lifter bores or anything else in the motor. just pretty dirty oil out of the bottom no metal on drain plug,, was surprised how much dirty oil the crank case holds, sucked that all out too kept refilling crank area and sucking oil out until it was as clean as it went in , don't tell my wife I used her good turkey baster
