Default 96" cams / oil upgrades

Ok folks. I'm new to the forum and this is my first post. Looking to upgrade my 2011 fxdwg cams. Here are my thought on the entire process. Looking for your thoughts and advice. So first off I was going to upgrade my oil pump with either a se oil pump with the cam plate obviously upgrading to Torrington bearings at the same time. Also thought about doing the fueling oe+ or hp+ setup. I like that they come with the gaskets and roller lifters as well as the larger oil galleys in the plate on the hp+ model. So next is cam choice. Looking for 100+ foot pounds. Not opposed to changing head gasket or even taking .015 thousands off the heads to help. I've been looking at se 204 , andrews 57 with +4 timing advance, s&s 583, as well as the tw 555 and the tw 222. I'm beginning to lean forwards the 204 with the fueling oe+ or hp+ cam plate upgrade and see where it gets me. Problem is I want torque at 2000 -3000 rpm. But I don't want it to run out on top. I have a 6 speed and don't want to have to stay in 5 until 75. I mean let's face it power at 6k doesn't really matter much on the street. Roll on power at cruising speeds matters more. My buddy just did fueling 574 camchest kit on an 88 and got 90hp and 90tq. And the torque was at 3200. Not bad. Not gonna lie, I'd like to beat him and spend less. Lol

Andrews 57, get the heads shaved enough to get you to 9.8 CCR and the SE high volume oil pump.

Talk to Scott at Hillside Performance (a sponsor). He set you up and won't break the bank.

Take a look at the cam comparer and it looks like the 583 S&S easy start will give you what you want and then some.

Andrews 48 cams and no headwork required. Great cams for a 96 and lots of torque where you want it. Designed to work with stock heads and compression.

Another vote for the 48. The 204's come on a little later than the RPM's that you listed.

Luv my 204's. They come on at around 2800 and I believe in keeping revs up (around 3G) with my 103 TC.

Some guys over on the Breakout Thread have been swapping to 68t rear pulleys (from 66t) and 30t transmission pulleys (from 32t) along with their cam changes. I've bought a 68t rear and it will go on with my next rear tire change. Sumthin to consider.

Oh ! Welcome Hdwg2011 .

Andrews 48 if heads are staying on; Andrews 57 or CR 575 are good choices if heads are coming off. If heads come off replace guide seals and have a good SERDI competition valve job done, shave off what needed to hit 9.3-9.6 corrected compression with a .030" head gasket. Fuel management like TTS Mastertune or DJ Power Vision and a good tune; you will beat your buddy.

JMHO but pass on the Fueling cam plate pump and go with the SE cam plate/pump upgrade and SE Quick Install Tapered pushrod kit (PN 18404-08 IIRC).
