Default Big bore kit 106

Good day to all,

My current performance upgrades to my street glide 2007 are the following:

1. S&S stealth air cleaner
2. S&S power tune headers
3. S&S 551 easy start cams - redshift dual cam piston chain tensioners and axtell oil by pass valve kit.
4. S&S quickee adjustuble push rods
5. Vance and hines 3.5 slip ons slash cut
6. Thundermax ecu

Engine is 96 and heads, cam plate and tappets are stock.

My question is if I will observe any significant performance upgrade if I will only install only the S&S 106 or 107 big bore kit.

I prefer to keep the stock heads, note that I do not drive hard (except some times like we all do I assume).
Reason that I do not wish to do the heads is that after I should do also the crank, cam plate, etc in order to have a "reliable" built.

A second question is that I am not aware if by changing the throtlle body from the stock 46 to the stock 50 from the HD 103 engine will further improve the performance.
S&S advised that their 52 TB with the said set up and 106 BB kit installed will not improve the performance (they said that the bike will loose low end torque) if I will not go for the heads as well.

The bike has 16.000 miles
Also note that I will install the baker compensator and variable pressure clutch if i will go with the big bore kit.

Thanks

106", 107" big bore kit should be a lot of fun.
50mm is what I'd suspect, ported to 1.710" manifold I.D.

I bought the S&S 106" kit last summer on a crazy sale. My plan was to be cheap and just do the kit but I ended up doing everything at once. Heads, BB kit, S&S crankshaft. I kept the stock TB and ran out of $$$ for the exhaust but those items could be addressed later (already got the exhaust, also on a crazy deal) without much work.

My rationale was if I'm going to take it apart I'm going to do everything once and be done with it and while it hurt the wallet at the time I'm glad it's done and I don't have to go back in there. I look at the TB's occasionally but if anything I might just get mine ported to 48mm. You can read my build thread from the link in my signature.

I am thinking 107" displacement and the early intake close of the 551 cams and a .030" head gasket will not play well together; CCP will be 210+ which is too high for me but I am a bit conservative. Even with the thicker OEM head gasket, corrected CR and CCP would be too high for me. I would definitely have the heads worked if going to a bigger bore; plenty running around without crank work, just don't beat on the motor. More T/B wouldn't hurt; Dan Vance can bore your 46mm to 50mm cheaper than buying a new T/B. You will need a good tune; I would not rely on the auto tune feature of the TMax but if you can find a good tuner, maybe OK.

I would also be looking at a new cam set with a later intake close, like the S&S 570, TMan 590, Andrews 54, Redshift 575, etc.

I agree that the ccp would be too high, as a plug/play w/o headwork, as with heads, the chamber size usually becomes larger.
We like to sign off, anymore, right around 200 +/-.
We too, bore to 50mm, and port the manifold.
Steps the power up.

Did not know that Scott; good to know. Assume you replace the throttle plate and blend all radius's in the body and open the port runners to the match the heads? About 1.700"?
