Default What Spark Plugs for the 117.

I have a Dyna LRS with the 117 kit, V&H Competition Exhaust and using the SE Super Tuner.

The tune was done with the stock Spark Plugs and recently I changed to the Screamin' Eagle Performance Spark Plugs #31600105. These are supposed to be for Engines with Higher Compression. The 117 kit bumped the compression from 9.2/1 to 9.9/1 so I felt this was the Plug needed.

The Bike runs great but now on start up it turns over about 5 times before lighting off.

What Plugs are you 117 Guys running?

From what I have read, anything else other then stock is simply Snake oil.

I use the stock plugs that were in my CVO 110" motor. I do have new stock plugs installed.

My engine cranks and turns over super fast and quick!
Then again, I have a brand spanking new SE comp sprocket, all new internal parts, Dark Horse bottom end and SE Timken Bearing.

On the advice of my tuner I went 2 steps colder.
I run Autolite plugs as I have always have over the years, the stock plug & heat range is 4164, 1 step colder is 4163, 2 steps is 4162. Don't know if running a colder plug would benefit you or not.

My understanding is the # I mentioned is a colder plug. I'll see if Autolite has a crossover for that # and compare to what you have.
Thanks!

ra6hc Champion is a colder plug than stock. Stock plug is Champion ra8hc and they are EXACTLY the same as the stock hd branded plug.

I am a big fan of Champions, I use them in most racing stuff, best performance and maybe not for long life but IMO it's all performance.

Not to include my Sister worked all her working life there and now retired.

I'm looking at a fine wire plug like the Screamin' Eagle, what would Champions equivalent be?

Don't know, haven't used fine wire since racing 2 stroke engines.

4 Builders, 2 Head Guys (including T.R. that did my heads), & 3 Tuners have all told me to run Champion RA8HC Plugs in my 117 and my stock bike as well...

i have stock plugs in my stage 2 96. i have autolite plugs in my 107 and i have v rods plugs (1 step colder) in my 120R.

all three light up on the first spin hot or cold.

find what your bike likes between the various brands and stick with em.

platinum tipped, high performance or anything else is a waste $$$
