Crank Run Out 96 CI Motors 2007

I just checked the runout on my 2007 night train cause I am installing cams. I have only checked my cam side but it measured a little over .002 without the camplate. I have owned the bike since new and my riding style has always been heavy handed and I never lug the motor. I Always cruse 2000-2500 rpms. I don't have the best numbers but I can live with them.

'07 was the first year for a new crank supplier; an off shore source IIRC. There were some quality issues that year being the first year for the new supplier and, while the evidence is anecdotal, the '07 model year appears to have a higher incidence of crank issues than the following years as the new supplier sorted out the quality issues. It is interesting to note that '07 is the year that the MoCo increased the crank run out spec for warranty purposes from .003" to .012".

2004's were the worst, and 2007's were then next.

07 dyna with FM 107 kit w/ woods 555 cams
0.005 (rounded up, not exactly 0.005, it was around 0.0045 - 0.0046 but choosed to round up to cover on gauge error margin) runout, checked a few months ago.
I had a emergency brake well before I installed the 107 kit, i guess the crank hasn't moved from the time it was built at the factory, I'll check the runout again once I have to dissasemble the cam chest for whatever reason.
I run her hard at times and so far so good.

got insight from 40 year HD master mechanic, before tearing motor back down after cam upgrade. He check the bushing on the cam plate as a "reference only" to how much the crank has moved. He advised, that if crank is slopping back and forth, the brass bushing will be effected "soft material". When checked in multiple ways, up to checking run out on a Bridgeport and inside mic and rotating the mic, the most we could get was .00010. He said ride it, and we would be OK. So do not have crank numbers but feel we did what we could without going back into motor to check crank run out "fingers crossed". also wife riding bike, and she is not heavy handed with throttle.
