late beehive heads will easily handle 585 cams,but I would really think twice about your build with bone stock heads,saying your leaving some on the table is a understatement.heads should have at least 1.900/1630 valves if not 1.980 intakes.you could use the S&S 79cc heads,but youde have to machine the combustion chambers to releave compression,it would be WAY too high for the 585`s

On heads... Just got off the phone with s&s, they said porting or going with the 89cc super stocks and drop to a .030 head gasket are my best bets. They said 79cc was too high a compression for street gas. Also said if i get porting or larger heads, i need to go with a 58mm TB too, at some point.
58mm needs special intakes, yes?
