Default Report Zippers Hydraulic Tensioners

I pulled the cam cover to check the outside zippers cam tensioner. This tensioner has about 45000 miles on it.. Running W777 cams and AVnV 185 lb springs.. Seems to be holding up well.. While I didn't check run-out this time, last time it was 0.003".

I've talked to both Dan Fitzmaurice and John Kitzmiller quite a bit about Tmax and other performance stuff but have no relationship with them. Zipper's stuff has always been top notch..

I put the S&S tensioners in my 117", seem like a similar design. It will be interesting to see how they hold up.

Good info.
We stock those here, and consult with our clients when we see the OE's worn.

Thank's for good INFO, I'm trying to decide which way to go on my 03 FB I just pulled cover and checked the stock 34K tensioner's and they were almost new, but I'm as worried about age as I'am miles, just need to meet someone to help as I've never went that deep on a job myself. THANKS

prodrag, I'm about to believe your right, I bet there is a REALLY low % of failure's that ate a motor in the real world, it's like Russian collusion-say it enough and most will believe it, theres alway's a bad 1 in any subject, most pic's I see are tensioner's in good shape (like mine @ 34K) there are a few BAD stories out there, but I agree the more homework I do on this, the more I think it's WAY overblown.

My builder had seen 2 instances (yup very low number) of the OEM's that had gotten stuck and had to be replaced. I went with the zippers tensioners just for piece of mind.

they are nice product,no argument there, just think their not needed, after 1000`s of motors worked on here, ive never seen a failure (besides normal wear) with OEM tensioners

That has been my findings as well, Max. I have also notice a lot less side load marks on these tensioners.

Negligible wear on the Zipper's Tensioners at just less than 40k miles...

T-Man 625s, T-Man CVO Street Performer Heads...

Was a "may as well, while we're in there" deal for me...
