V-Twin Manf.
Does anyone know anything about cyl. and piston combo that is offer by J&P Cycles and Dennis Kirk. My son is thinking about going with one of them because of the price. He got a '96 wide glide it seem to run good and sounded even better. He rode it about 10 miles and it quit. We brought it home and thought the carb was stopped up,cleaned and still wouldn't crank. Started checking everything out when we done a compressoin check, only had 75lbs. on each cyl. Started pulling heads exhaust spring broke on front. Got the heads off and found that someone had taken a 1./4in. ext. and beat the top of both pistons with it. front cyl. could be honed but the back one had a deep grove and will have to be sleaved or have to be replaced . He spent most of his money for the bike. He found a cyl. and piston kit on both J&P Cycles and Dennis Kirk websites, I know most of the item or good aftermarket products, but have never heard of V-Twin Mfc. Are tthere products worth purchacing or should I tell him he will be just askin for more truoble.

Not familiar with the V-Twin kit but took a look and the kit includes forged pistons and sells for $775. If that is the kit you are looking at, you might consider contacting one of our forum sponsors like Scott at Hillside Cycles and Kirby at VeeTwin Performance; I think they could save you some $$ by boring your cylinders to fit a set of cast pistons and you can count on the quality of the work rather than buying a sight unseen product and, perhaps, having to deal with a mail order house should you encounter a problem. Just a suggestion though.
