Run premium or get the bike on the dyno; ping is spark knock and unhealthy for the motor. The motor should not ping.

no argument there as pinging is very bad for a motor, can burn hole in piston if excessive. what am saying with the stock cams and tune for stage 1 I would have to run premium even in winter and then be careful not to lug.. with the 222 cams and tune tried running with regular in cool weather and only get detonation if lugging hard. am waiting for warm weather to get a real test with the wife on back and loaded for a trip.

watched some videos for intake reversion and certinaly a different sound than the rocker noise I was experiencing. Honestly I've never really noticed the reversion noise, but it must have it, then again those V&H BigRs are so damn loud its probably masking it.

I have been using the 57's for about a year on my 103 softail and haven't noticed any popping through the a/c (just a bit of decel pop I kind of like). Not really much different in valve noise from the 255's for me, but I did change lifters (comp cams 875 adjusted 1 turn from the bottom). I'm going with a 2 into 1 exhaust next week and I'll see if anything changes.

Adjusting up from the bottom of a collapsed lifter one full turnn on a 24 tpi push rod you're only allowing yourself .041" . Your preload is actually between .155" and 158" which is a lot of preload. You're not giving yourself a lot of cushion there you might want to back that down 2-3 flats to bring your preload to roughly .140"- .146" . Your playing it real close..... I wouldn't over rev it till the motor is pretty warm..

Don't worry about the adjustment.. I've run 875s at 1/2 turn from bottomed without issues. One thing good is that the lifters won't collapse too much at higher Rs. I have to run Johnston lifters at about the same preload or they rattle like heck at 4500-up. WFOLarry started selling sets of the Johnson lifters with travel limiters for the same reason I suspect.. BTW. 875s are travel limited to about 0.12 inches. The are designed that way to keep from pumping up on a non rev limited motor. The only thing that will likely happened from running them that low is that they may not last as long before they start to tick but the 875 were still quiet longer than SnS regulars for me when I was running Crane H290s in my RK.
