HD Formula+....

Yeah...some people use ATF, and will swear by it, but why when HD F+ works perfect.

I have long been using Mobil 1 syn ATF with 4 ounces of Lubeguard highly friction modified ATF supplement. Smoother quieter shifts, and no more KLANK that wakes the neighbors on cold starts. I highly recommend it.

NOTE: Not all ATFs are the same, some don't work well at all. Use the exact combo I mention above & you'll be happy.

I spoke with Alto. While they suggest ATF, they said Formula + or belray gear saver would work just fine

Straight ATF has no lube properties. I’d suggest an ATF w/ a lube additive like mentioned above.

If straight ATF had no lube properties, there would sure be a lot of automatics locking up over the years.

The Mobil one is my choice as well.

Atf has been used in the chaincase area in HD's since back in the early 80's(and perhaps earlier) when forks would block off the oiler, and have that running in it's own oil.
Many automotive manual gearboxes use atf these days, and have many clients that subscribe to it also.
We do, however, use Red Line MTL(called V-Twin Primary now) in the chaincase, on builds and services here.

You can get the Mobil 1 syn ATF and the Lubeguard at the local Autozone.
