Default Beating a dead horse 96-103

My 08' street glide is blowing smoke at 50k. I picked up a complete 100mile take off set of 103ho head, jugs, pistons, injectors, throttle body, lifters, pushrods, cam plate, oil pump, & cams.
I plan on all new gaskets, a quick hone and rings to be safe. This is on a budget so nothing crazy.
I'm assuming I should use all of the 103 stuff, including the injectors and throttle body?
However, is it worth it to pop a better set of cams in or are the 103ho's good enough? I mean more power is better, but I'm broke as a joke.
Anything else I should be looking at?
Thanks.

There is nothing at all wrong with the stock cams. I enjoy the hell out of mine.

With 100 miles, I wouldn't bother with replacing the ring or hone if you can match the pistons to the cylinders.

Add:

I'd use a 57 cam unless you are a low end torque freak then I'd go with the 48..

Thanks gents. Undecided on cams as of now.
Would you suggest using every 103 component I have? Seems logical, all my parts have 50k on them.

I don't have any problems with it.. The big cost will be the tune to match the selection..

If your bike is stock and if the upgrade is from a Rushmore. You will be real happy with the cheap upgrade. Get a buddy and pay a license fee To use his tuner. And I will be shot for this. But for now use a canned tune. He’s broke! Will run darn good. Later on change the cams and have it tuned.

Good idea, if there is a stage 1 program available for the HO103. Not sure you can "licence fee" a copy of the tuner (HD). Even buying the tuner new might be OK tho you'd get stuck the EPA version. Finding a valid copy of the non neutered version would be good because you could get the bike tuned later if desired.

If he's swapping in 103 parts, the warranty is moot. Use a real tuner and ignore the EPA.

I agree.. The problem is cost, maps available and bucks available. Might need a tune.

Tuner in my area collects a license fee plus dyno time which can vary but is usually about 4 hours; total cost for fee and tune is about $450. You also get the tune on a flash drive so you are not locked in to his shop for future tunes.
