05 E glide that is stock. Me (300lbs) and wife plus gear sit at about 500lbs. Bike is used mostly for touring. It has 34k so I checked the tensioners. You guessed it they are shot.

Since I have to pull the cam plate to do the tensioners and check the bearings I mite as well go for cams.

What would be a close to stock cam that may give me a little bump (climbing hills without shifting as much) but still not have to get tuned or add a bunch more parts. Or will I have to do it any way?

Andrews 21, lots of low end torque. You will not regret it, although you will need to retune

you can use the original push rods if you pull the rocker

recommend you change the inner and outer cam bearings, and throw in a set of S&S lifters while you are in there. Use the Cyco tensioners unless you are doing the hydraulic conversion

Don’t expect more than about 5 ft/ lbs more. You’ll need more cubes to go along with a cam to really make a difference.

 

I'm installing S&S 509's in my friends 2002 Heritage (carb) this week along with S&S quickie push rods and lifters. Also changing the bearings and tensioners and he should be good for another 15 years.

 

Andrews 26 is a good cam for the 88” if you want some low end pull.

I'd suggest the Andrews 21 as well.
If you want, at a later date, the cam will still work in a 98" Big Bore kit.

Does the 21 go a little further up in the RPM range than the 26

 

No, the 26 is a slightly higher rpm cam than the 21 at a cost of lower rpm torque.
