Crank Runout Help Please
#21
I think I get what you were trying to check. I can't make it out in the pictures either.
Either the actual bearing journal clearance (axial) by moving the crank up and down, or end play (in and out). I'd assume there is a spec for axial bearing clearance. I don't know what that spec is, but if you have .010" axial clearance on a roller bearing, I'd think that was excessive.
TheReallyBig question I would have is how much force were you using with the pry bar? Was enough to flex the end of the crank enough to get that reading? I would think moving the end of the crank up and down by hand to check for axial clearance would be enough force, and well as in and out by hand to check end play......unless your have REALLY thick oil.
