So....lets say this sound is the lifters, do they need to be replaced ASAP? Or can I still ride?....will it cause any damage if I do keep riding?
I experience this tick between 2200-2700 RPMs up to 4th gear, No other issues, no loss of power or anything.

Thanks.

Im chacing the same top end tick comong from the front rocker box. I tried the rockout, or what ever they are called, and made no difference. Only thing I havent done is readjust the P/R. I Set them at .132 when I did cams.Ill have to try setting them at .140 and see what happens

I think I might have a bad S&S lifter ,and I still have the stock lifters, Would it hurt to put the stock front lifters back in and see if that helps with the ticking that comes from the front rocker area?

replace the lifter, they don't cost that much.

with the top end noise, I am still running stock push rods. I changed to 20w60 Red line oil and it actually quieted the top end down a bit. Gets hot in FL, and the only oil a local Indy uses unless you prefer something else. It was recommended by him and works for me

I also have a ticking sound, have the rocker lockers in. after my cam change, replaced lifters with S&S premiums, several thousand miles later get a ticking sound that lasts a few minutes after start up. have a message sent to S&S to see what they recommend. rechecked the front cyl adjustment as sounds like coming from there, was quiet for a bit but now doing it again. will see what S&S says.

I loaded the lifters to .140 and the ticking was quieter for 100 miles or so, now the tic is back to what it was before. The tic is definitely coming from he front rocker area.

did get an email back from them saying when engine stopped, an open valve will bleed down lifter which makes sense. only thing is seems to tick like a flat lifter for a bit longer than it should. sounds like front cylinder so re adjusted push rods and seemed quieter for a bit but now back. am thinking of resetting push rods ( S@S quickees) from 0 lash +4 turns as per instructions to 0 lash + 3.3 turns as in the video and see what happens. is possible higher lift cams are noisier, have woods 222's. will have to play around a bit with the settings.

So let me add to the story for future readers. I upgraded the cams my 2014 SGS 103. Here goes, Cycle Rama 570-2 with SE adjustable push rods, V&H lifters, Axtel bypass and Zippers Dual cam chain tensioners AND Rockout Rocker Inserts.
Valve train was very noisy.. Adjusted push rods again....still a lot of noise. Oil pressure within specs. Added the S&S cam plate with the TC3 oil pump and the S7S Premium lifters, improved oil pressure at idle, still making noise. I have tried several
oils....which I know wont fix anything. Running 20/60 now with 20 psi at idle ad 36 psi above 3k in 100*weather.Lifters adjusted to 1,5 and guess what? Still have valve train noise. Runs like a beast and smooth.
So all in all I have spent thousands and its not any quieter but it runs awesome!
