Default Loose head bolt
Was riding the other day, motor suddened sounded extremely “ticky”...sure enough head gasket leak. found that one of the head bolts had come loose, causing it to leak. I tightened back up to spec along with the other one(slightly loose but not too bad)

Wondering if I should open up er up to check the other 2?? Any suggestions?

Last time I heard of this happening it was a stud pulling out of the case.

Sorry to scare you but if it were me I'd have the whole top end off the bike right now checking the studs.

What engine? Any mods? As stated, usually stud is pulling threads from case when that happens.

frig, 120R....built. So many issues with this thing. I’m bout to ride it till it dies at this point. 🤬

At this point a quick tear down and gasket set could save a lot of aggravation down the road... Nothing worse than sitting on the side of the road with a dead battery in your cell phone...

pull the rocker boxes & TQ the headbolts,if they can be torqued to 42#`s,your fine

Like Kirby said, 42 ft/lbs, and if not, then a Full Torque Permanent Thread Insert(s).
Those WILL NOT pull.

Like said- they do not loosen up.
studs and bolts stretch over time and lose their clamping value.
You can actually measure it.!
Personally-I would replace them with a better grade.
is it time for a valve job anyway?
cam?

Depends on how far you venture from home. See if head gasket leak comes back. Otherwise, sounds like a winter job for the others which are more then likely like the ones you found slightly loose from aluminum and a lot of heat cycles..Not like it's going to leave you setting or leak water in the oil? HAaa..

advice taken. Thanks guys. Looks like i know what i’m doing today, buying A/C for garage and wrenchin.

no its not time for any of that, stupid thing gets rebuilt once a year 🤦🏻*♂️ Only got about 8000 km on it this time around 🙄
