Default 100 CI S&S in a Buell

Starting to think about getting a Buell and putting the 100 CI S&S in it. Who has done this and , and can tell me what else has to be done to make this work?

That's an interesting idea! Which model of Buell do you have in mind, a tube-frame or an alloy one? There isn't a lot of Buell-related activity around HDF, but the chaps in the Sportster section are bound to be interested, may even be able to help. I suggest you visit them and ask.

the 100 inch S&S motor has different dimensions that the stock buell engine,,,and since buell has gone out of busniness multiple times, it is very hard to get parts for them and someone that knows how to tune them properly. dont get me wrong, i have nothing against the bikes, it's just that they are hard to deal with for hot rodding and maintaining.

I've owned Buells for many years and don't have problems getting parts for mine. That may well depend on the model and what an owner wants, of course! I seem to recall that the S&S 100" is essentially a solid-mount design, so won't have the features required to mount in a rubber-mount frame of any type.

I really don't know anything about it. Just that on the S&S website it says the motor will fit in a Buell, so it go me thinking. Don't even know anything about Buell's except that I like the look.

Buell parts in the USA are as scarce as Hen's teeth.
If you want a fast Buell pick up a used 1125, it will smoke even a 100 S&S motor.

I'm pretty sure you can go to 90CI on the Sportster based Buell motor, that's max (unless you go with a stroker crank too) but I thought they only made them cranks for the older Sporsters.

Either way, as mentioned, get an 1125 Buell with the rotary motor, or a newer EBR. That'll smoke a Gixxer if ridden properly.

just for the record, the 1125 is not a Rotary engine. it was made by Rotax, and is very similar to the engines used in the Aprilia RSVR's and the KTM RC8.
1125 cc v twin and still very cool.. I have ridden Rotax vtwins for more than 15 years now and definitely have no complaints.
