Default spring loaded tensioners

All, For TC engines with spring loaded cam chain tensioners, has anyone tried removing the tensioners and running with no tensioners? I was watching a You Tube video and there was a string of comments where the person claimed to have done this. He had put 8K miles on with no issues. I know the chains are tight, but the tensioners must be there for a reason (ie: provide some tension to the chain to accommodate slack).

Me thinks that is not a good idea.

NOT a good idea at all,a good idea is to get tensioner pads from CYRO for the early spring loaded units though

Is this the same product/manufacturer I see members refer to as Cyco, or is it a different product?

You might be doing more than going into the cam chest if you run without tensioner springs.........they are there for a reason

Gear driven cams?

If youre thinking of running chain cams without a tensioner, make sure you take some before and after pics so we can see what happens.

It's all about long term reliability, the chain tensioner takes out the slack, causing less vibrations and noise. Otherwise these vibrations will damage, over time, the gear and the chain itself. Only enhancing the vibrations and so enhancing, on its turn, the wear and tear again. A chain tensioner also transmits the torque evenly, so less broken or damage gear teeth. 8000 Miles is not considered as long. if you would check the wear and tear on the teeth of his cam, you will see the start of some deformation and the chain will have more play. This story will only worsen over time I am afraid.
I mean cams are a vital part of your engine. You want them to rotate as smooth as possible, to not mess up your top end.
