I bring this up for more validity of the instruction. They aren't written by some dot com salesmen but by a company that only does some of the best pushrods in the industry.

I was preparing to remove my FM adjustable pushrods to change my tappets. I was majorly concerned because I had installed them with the red Loctite included with the kit. My main worry was needing to use a torch to heat the lock nuts and damaging the area around the pushrods. I even went as far as purchasing this ceramic fireproof cloth from Amazon to put behind the pushrods (available at
Amazon Amazon
if your interested). Long story short - the nuts broke free without any issue. Did not have to use the torch, which made me feel like a bit of a ninny for getting so worried. Probably helped that I only used a drop of the Loctite. I decided to use blue Loctite when I reassembled for peace of mind. Crossing my fingers and hoping that they don’t rattle loose, but based on other’s experience using no Loctite at all I’m not too concerned.

Use tin foil next time if you need a heat shield.

As far as the pushrods loosing up - I have had the same set of Crane adjustable 24 TPI in my 03 RK for many year & about 190K miles - the last 50 K on top of Woods 6H cams .590 lift. They have never loosened up - ever. The same for the adjustables I've run on various Pan & Shovels & customer's . I did have trouble with the BSA A-10 I had in the 1960's with adjustable rocker arms , but that was probably my own ignorance. as Hillside Scott says - tighten them up real good.

I only ever use S&S, std adjustables not quickies, and have never had any dramas, many miles with no loosening of locknuts and no use of loctite or rubbing on tubes. No experience with other brands though. Using quality spanners and getting them nice and tight seems to do the trick

For me, with only a mild engine build/cam, pull the rocker boxes and use the stock fixed length rods. I do not need any additional things in my life that need adjustment or possible maintenance, no matter how slight the chance. Fixed stay fixed, 100% of the time. My $.02. Carry on.

LOL, my Harbor Freight spanners get them plenty tight...

Seriously though, there's a chance I just didn't reef them down enough. This last time I buttoned them up I put all the leverage I could on them little wrenches with just my hands and they've got 60 miles. Regardless, I'm pulling them this weekend for measurement and going with fixed length rods.

You old fart. It's aluminum foil nowadays. My wife teases me for calling it tin foil too!
