I was preparing to remove my FM adjustable pushrods to change my tappets. I was majorly concerned because I had installed them with the red Loctite included with the kit. My main worry was needing to use a torch to heat the lock nuts and damaging the area around the pushrods. I even went as far as purchasing this ceramic fireproof cloth from Amazon to put behind the pushrods (available at if your interested). Long story short - the nuts broke free without any issue. Did not have to use the torch, which made me feel like a bit of a ninny for getting so worried. Probably helped that I only used a drop of the Loctite. I decided to use blue Loctite when I reassembled for peace of mind. Crossing my fingers and hoping that they don’t rattle loose, but based on other’s experience using no Loctite at all I’m not too concerned.

I only ever use S&S, std adjustables not quickies, and have never had any dramas, many miles with no loosening of locknuts and no use of loctite or rubbing on tubes. No experience with other brands though. Using quality spanners and getting them nice and tight seems to do the trick
