Default Mackie cams

Hello, I see and have heard a lot of talk about how bad Harley lifters are.
Two years ago I bought a 2014 CVO ultra, from a dealer with only 5,900
miles on it . And went ahead and got a two-year extended warranty and that was a good thing. Just took it in with engine noise turns out it was a bad
lifter that also took out cam. But it turns out that the original owner had
Put cams in it. They were Dave Mackie cams that only made it 20,00 miles.
So Harley isn't the only ones who sell shity parts.

Probably not the cams fault. You said yourself harley lifters are crap...chances are the guy cheaped out and didn't put in some after market lifters. Sad part is guess what brand of lifter your dealers going to "fix" your bike with? As soon as your warranty runs out put in some s and s lifters with some koyo inner cam bearings the next day and enjoy the ride.

The root issue with lifters taking a screaming dump in a CVO 110", are the extreme duty triple valve springs, that HD sourced from Comp Cams.
Once those are attended to, a good quality lifter will live.
The HD "C" lifters, manufactured in Mexico have something to be desired, thus the reason we use S&S lifters here.
The David Mackie cams are good cams, that produce good power.
None of this is opinion, as a quick Google search will reveal the widely known facts.
Ain't the cams fault....
Scott

This is not the cams fault. What lifters were used in conjunction with the Mackie cams? Also, those 110's have stupid heavy valve springs that don't do any justice on your valvetrain...

I hope it is understood that Dave isn't grinding his own cams and my guess is they are being ground by one of the companies that grind a lot of different cams in this industry.
