Default Need help IDíng noise source

This god awful racket starts after the motor comes up to operating Temp. Starts and Runs fine, few miles down the road the noise starts. Park for an hour or so, things cool, and starts and runs fine until back up to temp then the noise returns.

I know its not in the cam chest, already pulled that apart and all checks out.

Kinda sounds like in one of the Rocker Boxes, but then also sounds like it maybe in the primary.....

I dunno, maybe someone else has had a similar noise. Not afraid to open everything up, just don't wanna go chasing my tail looking in places i don't need to.

Mine does it too. I plan on fixing it after my dyno appointment in 3 weeks.

What year how many miles. Sounds a bit like piston slap. Or rod knock now that I listened to it again.

Try to locate which cylinder it’s dominant. Could be a few things as mentioned. I’ve had them all and yup, it always sucks

Opened the primary today to see if the noise is emanating from there. Didn't think it was but it's a quick and easy check.
Glad I did look as everything was fine except the Hayden tensioner. Dang thing has started to disintegrate! Bits broken off the sides and looking shabby. Top part the chain ran on was fine but the whole thing was breaking up from underneath. Grabbed the stock tensioner (I knew there was reason I didnt bin it) and installed it till I can get an alternative. The Hayden is about 3 years old, and isn't the cause of the racket.
Noise source search continues, I'll open up the rocker boxes tomorrow.....

2010, 65k miles. Total rebuild ( by myself) and 103 bore a little over a year ago. Everything from and including the cam chest up was brand new.
Noise started last November just before I put the bike to bed for winter. Ive opened the cam chest and de/reconstructed 3 times in the last month, noise definately not coming from there. I was thinking maybe a collapsed lifter, but noise IS NOT present at start, only once motor gets up to operating temp. I'm not losing any noticeable power power either, just suddenly starts making a god damn racket!
