Default Query regarding my K&N air filter

Hey all, so I've this air filter from K&N that I found in the cupboard previously used by my brother. It looks neat and has no holes as such but only this minor zig zaggy pattern bugs me, is this normal and safe for usage? I'm yet to oil the filter, no leaks visible under light as well, regards.
Worth noticing is that, this wavy pattern exists only on 3 fins in particular, rest all seem fine.

You can install it, but make sure you clock it so the zig-zaggy things are staring back at you when you look down at it.....(There isn't a big enough wink icon to portray my level of sarcasm...)

The filter is good and safe to use. Go ahead and oil it up. If you havn't oiled a K&N filter before give it a light coat of oil and let set for awhile, then reapply another light coat of oil. Repeat if necesary. What you want is a uniform coating of oil but not dripping wet, it should be a uniform color of oil with no white spots (K&N oil is red) .

Thanks a lot for the information! Any idea as to how long I should wait between coats? And since my bike is carburetted, I don't run the risk of fouling MAF sensors, so should I light ckat the interior too for added protection?

Wait about a half hour. You don't need to oil the inside. Again use light coats until you have a uniform coat of oil. Several light coats are better than one or tow heavy coats.

May want to verify if this particular filter is to be oiled or not.
My "06 with stage one K&N filter states to NOT oil it.

Hope this helps.
