Blew oil cap off and now it won’t idle
So I have a 99 Electra with a 103” kit and cams, last night I got on it pretty hard coming off of a red light and about 300 yards into it the oil cap blew off and sprayed oil everywhere. I cleaned all the vent bolts, pulled the rocker covers off and checked the vents in there. I assembled everything back together and now it won’t idle with the air filter on. I took it off and cleaned it and it still won’t idle for more than a minute. If i take the air filter off it idles perfectly fine.

1. 99 Electra Glide is a twin cam. It don't have a lifter screen.
2. If OP is running a paper filter and it got oil on it, it's needs replace.
3. If using the stamped sheet metal breather valves make sure they are assembled correctly.
4. When assembling the air cleaner make sure that the breather passages from the air cleaner to the heads are not blocked.
I'd also check to see if the bike has an updated oil tank breather kit. It's a new filler neck with a line that runs to the motor. IIRC the original breather line runs from the motor to the tranny cover.

So I replaced the air filter and ran around the block with it and it’s blowing oil out of the breather pretty extensively and the noise coming from the vent on the breather is way louder than before. When sitting at idle or when riding you can hear the vented air coming through the vent hole (no, it’s not the sucking sound from the carb pulling air).
