Default Question about bent push rods

Hi, I took my 2005 to the shop to change the cam chain tensioners. He has had the bike for a little more than a month so, I contacted him. He stated he was waiting on push rods. I asked if mine were bad and he stated no, he cut them. I asked how much they were going to be and he said he was paying for them. He wouldn’t go into anymore detail. Any thoughts on what happened? Maybe he bent the push rods? How? If he did bend them could there be other damages? What should I look for.
Thank you

Shouldn’t have had to touch the pushrods to replace tensioner. Only need to remove, pushrods if he was pulling the cams.

The push rods weren’t bent, it is standard practice to cut the factory pushrods, then reinstall adjustable pushrods when removing the cams. This is so you don’t have to remove the rockers and saves a bunch of labor.

As far as I know, you have to remove the cams to change the tensioners. Am I missing something?

It’s much easier to do the inner shoe with the cam plate removed and hopefully he’s replacing the cam bearings while he’s in there

Don't cut the OEM pushrods tank comes off and the top of the motor needs to come apart to get them out, he's saving you some labor costs by not doing it all the hard way.

What others have said. Cutting the oem pushrods and replacing with adjustables is the common practice and one way to do the work you required.

Mechanic should not have started the work, if he didn’t have the parts to do the job.
