primary is a chain, not a belt.i assume your refering to the rear drive belt.replace it if it (or the pullys) show wear

The drive belt lasts a long time unless you pick up a rock or some debris. Mine has 67,500 miles on it and going strong. Will trade the bike before having to replace the belt due to wear.

Thanks for the correction..

I should've asked:

Do I have to take primary cover off to look at belt?
Will the bike feel like it has loos power, run sluggish?

Bike runs fine now but asking because I was told once the belt go and your on the road, I could end up stranded, cause its not an easy fix.

Thank you

The belt drives the rear wheel. You can see it from the left side of the bike. The primary will have to come off to replace it.
As stated above, unless there is physical damage to the belt or pulleys, the belt will last up to and sometimes longer than 100,000 miles.
How many miles are on the bike now?
I suggest you get a Factory Service Manual and learn about your bike.
