Wink Oil pump failure?

I have been posting numerous questions on this forum regarding the on and off clicking (2000 Springer), and after several hours of research, I have finally concluded what I believe to be the problem. Let me start by telling you all how this started. I was doing 60 miles an hour on the freeway when the ticking sound began. I left the freeway and the ticking noise continued at slow speeds. At first I believed it was the push rods. Then I blamed the tappets. Then I blamed the rocker arms. But now, I am almost certain that the sound was just like that made when the tappets bleed down. But why would they bleed down at 60 mph? I have heard of tappets bleeding down after the bike has been shut off, but not while the engine is running. Well, I now think it was a lack of, or insufficient oil being fed to the tappets (No dash red lights came on, and the engine did not show any signs of a lack of oil). The bottom line is that now I am almost certain it is the oil pump that has failed, or is about to fail. What say you all?

Put a direct reading gauge on the bike and start the engine, read the oil pressure. Simple as that.

No guessing game on the internet required.

Agree with Dan but doubt the oil pump has failed or the OP would have bigger problems. "Clicking" noise could be anythihg; need more information, like:

how many miles?
any recent work/modifications?
is the bike stock?
stock or adjustable push rods?

In the words of "Sleepy Joe", 'come on man
