Hope everyone is well. I'm back buttoning the top end front rocker box and saw this "coating" peeling on the top of the exhaust valve. I checked the other 3 and all are fine. Any ideas what this is before I put stuff back together?

The second photo I began to peel it and then stopped to take these photos.

Ok thanks Max. Now I'm guessing I should remove the head and address that valve yes? Was just gonna contact Larry and see what he says but I haven't yet. Thoughts?

Yup, who ever did the seals forgot to pull the little protective sleeve when the top retainers & keepers went back in.

Good eye Max.

I'll be interested in what he says.. I could easily be wrong... If it is a seal condom valve retainer needs be removed.. Can be done on the bike with special tools...

I don't have a tool to do it on the bike but do have the valve spring compression tool. Here we go.

Question before I get busy, you guys think that could have been affecting the front cylinder from not running?

No, at the very most it would have made the rocker arm a bit noisy when it wore away.

You'll have to take it apart. It might have mucked up the valve seal and could possibly have caused the valve to sick.. Don't know for sure...

Call larry or text him a pic..
