Ok, put everything to where it should be and torqued bolts down. Gonna have a beer and wait an hour and check them. Let the waiting begin!

Once again thanks to you guys responding, if I could buy you beers I would.

Do the lifters have travel limiters in them? If they do, with an cometic HG, valve job, cleanup mill of the heads, pushrod may actually be too long..

BTW Johnson Hylift lifter leak a bit faster than original SnS lifters I had in my SnS113 motor circa 1998.. When I was going valve train noises on my 113, I compared the originals with a new set of Hylifts.

I think they do as I got them from Larry and remember seeing an L next to the number, I think 2313 or something close and I was thinking the same thing after looking in the FSM under pushrod adjustment and it states that even the smallest changes in a valve train setup require a pushrod length check.

My cometic gasket isn't .030 but .040. Either way I'm gonna check them in an hour if no good gonna give it over night and check in the morning. If I still can't spin them I'm gonna just put the Smith Bros in and call it a day.

2303 is the stock replacement
2303S is the slow leakdown
2303L or 2303SL have travel limiters. You have to use adjustable pushrods with these.

Thanks, I don't recall which one I got from you but when we talked at your shop I did say I was keeping the solid pushrods so I would then assume the 2303 is probably what I bought from you. After coffee gonna head out in a few and check the pushrods and report back.

Ok quick update: Both rear exhaust and intake spin on base. Front exhaust spins on base but front intake still does not. That's strange that 3 work but 1 doesn't. I guess I'm in a holding pattern, either that lifter bleeds down more or the install of the new pushrods happens when they arrive.

Enjoy the weekend guys and be safe. I'll report back any changes.

Ride safe!

Could be that one intake is up one top the cam lobe. Bump the engine over a bit with the plugs out and in 5th gear, watch that pushrod and see if it drops any.

Are you checking each cylinder independently?
An easy way to verify is have the intake open on the rear then check the front.
