2015 HDF Euro Meet&Greet (4th edition) July 24/25/26...

2014 riding season is coming to an end so time to start thinking about next year's riding season.

Let me hear your ideas where and when to meet for the 2014 HDForums.com M&G in 2015...

Some options:
French Alps/Vosgues
Austrian Alps
German Alps/Schwarzwald/Sauerland/Eifel
Swiss Alps
Italian Alps

Like previous editions, the scope of this M&G is:
1. to meet HDF members who we know from the forum in person,
2. discuss our mutual interests,
3. make a bike tour of ~ 300km in a scenic and preferably mountainous area,
4. have a BBQ and drink a few beers after the ride and
5. ride home after breakfast next (Sunday) morning.

Ride out 2015

Hi guys,

Great to see that Rene is already working on our next meet :icon_banana:

Looking back at this years meet, the environment of Bavaria was awesome, great roads, fantastic scenery and of course the German hospitality and their good food.

What I didn't like was the crowded roads on our Saturday tour through Austria. Just to many bikes, bicycles and cars.:icon_bricks: Now of course it was a classic tour with super weather on a weekend

Now this is not to blame on anyone, it is a fact when travelling these roads under those circumstances. For next years planning something to consider.

Having said that, looking at the videoclip Fred posted wanted me to go back and do it all over again at once :-)

For 2015 my preference:
1. Schwarzwald in combination with Vosgues
2. Austrian Alps
3. Harz (New Option)

What ever it will be I am looking forward to meeting you all again and let's ride.....

Really ? I thought it was a rather quiet trip, and zipping around the traffic was
easy enough, but then again I ride in Italy. :icon_mrgreen:

I wouldn't be a big supporter of the Italian Alps, the roads aren't in great shape,
and car drivers in Italy are really something else.
Which is too bad, considering the house we have now could easily sleep 8, with a pool, hot tub, and big assed BBQ.
A day ride around Lago Maggiore would be nice, I can throw in a twist around
Lago d'Orta, and a run up a hill or two for fun.
But it is pretty far south for the Dutch boys.

Rene, you can count on me to book at the last minute, show up late,
and drink too much.

Looking forward to next year ! :icon_steer:

Okay, this one is probably my last chance. So count me in!

Black Forest Area possibly?

Though I could be down for wherever.

Thanks for chiming in Petro and welcome to join us.
For sure Black Forest is a nice area to ride in!

Stay tuned in here to learn where we'll go next year.

Hi All,
I agree with Bjorn´s proposals, Black Forest and Vosgues are infront of our door and would invite for a stop at our home. But we can´t sleep 8 though.

Black Forest is also full on weekends and even some of the best roads are closed for bikers on weekends, just because of too many bikes and too many kills.
I have not been to Harz yet, but heard of very nice places and scenery.

Although not in the luxury of being retired I would suggest to spend a day more and extend to Friday for the fun trip.

Looking forward for the gathering.
Regards
Hans

Schwarzwaldgasthof Ochsen in Klosterreichenbach

Landgasthof Schützen in Klosterreichenbach 2014-12-27 update: no vacancy!

Hans, the Dutch crew + Petro coming from the North could ride to Karlsruhe on Thursday and plan the RON in that area. Meet you and Isabella on Friday morning and continue further South towards Stühlingen.

FXD2003Rider 12-28-2014 09:17 AM

Gasthof Hotel Krone in Stühlingen contacted me today (2014-12-28). Here’s what she offered:

Option on 4 single rooms and 4 double rooms;
44,00 Euro/Person/Night breakfast included;
Usage of the garage for the bikes;
BBQ diner Saturday night no problem.

As of May 1st 2015 this option ends and reservations have to be confirmed.

Here’s the game plan:
July 23 : Dutch crew leaving on Thursday towards Karlsruhe area (route to be decided);
July 24 : hook-up with German crew and day tour to Stühlingen (route to be decided) and hook-up with Italian/Swiss crew at the hotel;
July 25 : day trip in the southern Schwarz Wald (route to be decided) and in the evening BBQ at the hotel;
July 26 : split-up and departure from the hotel (Dutch crew takes a route through the French Vosgues and RON, both to be decided)
July 27 : Dutch crew continues journey back North (route to be decided)

Please let me know (if possible by returning email like Bjorn, Harry, Petro, Hans & Isabella and Philip and Fenna already did) if you’re interested to join this event!

I made the reservations too René (Vongerichten and Christiane) but strangely enough I have had no confirmation from either of them. Did you guys get any reply?

Geeez guys, it's only April. :icon_munching:

We should be ok to come along for at least part of the ride,
but it's too early yet.

Anyone buy my clogs yet ? :icon_biggrin:

Petro 05-06-2015 11:25 AM

So, did anyone get confirmation from the Oberhausen hotel?

Sad news :(

So, of course I was really looking forward to getting out with y'all. but as fate would have it, my parents, who I have been trying to get to Europe for over three years now, have decided they were going to spring a trip here on me the week of the M&G. Sometimes I don't quite like my parents...

Rene, what are the cancellation policies for the first two hotels?

Sorry to hear you're not joining us but happy for you to have your parents visiting you.

I could'nt find any cancellation details for Weingut Vongerichten. Best is to contact them by phone (http://www.weingut-vongerichten.de/html/kontakt.htm)

Email for Zur Krone is info@krone-stuehlingen.de, phone +49 7744 - 929290 and ask for Christiane

Jungle Bill is checking in

Dear biker folks, dear Rene,

Invited by Rene recently during the dutch red beret riders tour in the Eifel wilderness, I just finalised my registration on the hdforum.
I (Willem alias Jungle Bill) and my wife Marjolein would be honoured and of course very pleased if we could join the 23 - 27 july M&G event in the Black Forest area.
I will see if we can still make reservations at weingut vongerichten 23/24, hotel krone 24/26, and schwenlicher hof 26/27.
As it stands at the moment I do not know if my boss wants my ass back in Africa /Burundi on relative short notice.
I will keep you all posted...

Regards
Wilem
