She's been in a garage for about five years untouched. Has a bit of corrosion and rust. We live at the beach so I'm sure that's a factor. Has 44k mi. I ordered a factory manual and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. so far I bought a new battery, six qts of Mobil 1 20/50, oil filter and some marvel mystery oil to combat the rust. Any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.

We have a great group of guys in the EVO section that can help you with your bike so I'm moving your thread there. Just keep your hands and legs inside the ride at all times.

 

My TourGlide sat for 4 years here in Florida near the beach. Check the inside of your gas tank, mine was bad.

 

Welcome.
It's best to not use synthetic oils in our EVOs. It is not necessary and it will find a way to leak everywhere. Best bet........ ride it and identify what really needs to be done.

You may need more than a few times around the block!!!!!!!!!

 

Not sure where your rust is but I had a lot and on chrome you can use crumpled up ***** of aluminum foil and diet coke to remove it quickly. Coke too but more of a mess diet works and doesn't get sticky

 

Hi from the UK and welcome to HDF. Fellow FLHS owner here, owned from new in 1990. Other things to think of are new tyres and changing your brake fluid, which will be DOT5. You will come to recognise the clarion call we keep repeating to use that and not use DOT4, as they fight like cats and dogs!

 

This was my first time trying aluminum foil on chrome and I was blown away at how easily it did the job. As far as the aluminum, I'm gonna try marvel mystery oil this weekend when I have time. I've heard great things about it and can't wait to try it.
