Default Has anyone seen this before

So I recently took a '95 Electra Glide FLHT in trade and as I was changing the grips I noticed this on the clutch side. It looks like a air stem that the chrome end of the grip screwed into to hold the grip on. Pressing on the stem no air releases. At first I thought the previous owner had routed the rear air shocks up to this to fill/ release air from the shocks. I doubt this stock. Having this stem there though does not allow me to put on new grips. Before removing it I wanted to double check with the guru's here to make sure I am not wrecking something.

Thanks for the help all!

This is where you add air for the front forks.

Mid 90's have air fork suspension. I suspect you are looking at the schrader valve for the front "air forks".

FROM MY FSM:

Rider weight up to 150 lbs 0 lb psi
each additional 25 lbs add 1 ib psi

Luggage weight for each additional 10 lbs add 1 psi

MAX 25 PSI

get a suspension pump and filler up!

Thanks MaxDog2!

Would you happen to know where I could buy replacement grips for it? The ones on there are toast!

That may be a challenge, as later bikes dropped the air system. Any grips that will fit your wire throttle cable side should work, if you are handy with a sharp knife to cut a neat hole in the left grip. You may be able to find the correct stock grips, even H-D or aftermarket ones by shopping around, but unfortunately H-D has stopped making Evo stuff.

For parts info there are on-line websites like this one worth looking at.

I buy most of my parts from J&P Cycles. If you plan on buying a lot of parts it is good to purchase the gold club. They have always been great to deal with. http://www.jpcycles.com/?utm_source=...FUyVfgodXQUPsg

I ride a 90 fltcu with a front air forks and the Kuryakyn ISO Grip Set with Throttle Boss works well. You have to remove 4 screws on the end to access the Schrader valve but my forks don't leak so I do it once a month. They are a comfortable set and I have no complaint's with them.

I've been looking for stock grips since I got my bike 10 years ago, I don't think they exist. Some people have relocated the front air to the crash bar and eliminated the valve in the grip entirely.
