Default Cruise Control Problem

97 Ultra Classic EFI

Went for a ride today, flipped the cruise on, and it's accelerating, decelerating, up and down, anything but cruise.

Anyone have an idea what might cause this?
I have no idea how the cruise works.

Thanks

Your best bet is to get a factory shop manual - there are a series of tests that will help diagnose the issue. I spent a winter trying to find a fault in my '94 and couldn't pass the tests. In the spring it worked - for a couple of years then the issues came back.

This summer I finally put a new module on it and it never skipped a beat on the Colorado trip. Not saying that is the answer just that it can be a complex system to diagnose.

The shop manual will take you step by step through the test procedure. It tests all the switches that make it function.
