Duals ehaust on Hertiage EVO
I'm looking for options for a dual exhaust for a 96 Hertiage Softail with the 80 EVO. Everything I keep finding with my searches keep bring up things for the TC engines. My end goal is going to be a dual exhaust set up and hard bags like the touring bikes.
Any pics and reasons for your suggestions would be great. Also should I be looking for a 2-2 maybe a 2-1-2? is there another option I don't know about for duals?
Thanks,
Chris

When you say duals are you talking about one pipe out each side?
Duals generally means one pipe to each head.
I had Sampson dual (one pipe out each side) on my '95 Heritage for a while but you will have to drill and tap the swing arm to fit the left side pipe.
I don't know what a 2-1-2 pipe is.

As I remember, at some point they began drilling and tapping the frame of the Softail for a left side muffler mount. I thought it was '95, but I'm sure it was done by '96. I followed the year by year changes pretty closely back then, but my memory isn't what it was.
I know my '94 isn't drilled for a left side muffler.

PN 735IA true dual headpipes, they also have a variety of fishtail mufflers.
Just another option

You can buy exhaust for a 97-99 Heritage Springer, it'll bolt right on. They come up on eBay from time to time. I'm guessing 97 was when they started drilling the frame for the left side pipe bolt, it has a hanger that bolts to the passenger footboard or peg mount.
You may have to get the heritage springer shift rod as well, it's bent back towards the tranny to fit around the left exhaust pipe. You may be able to bend yours to fit, I'm not sure about that.

I had Samson true duals on my 1990 Glide for a while, but eventually changed them for my 2-into-1. Something to be wary off regarding TC pipes is that earlier Evos have a different shaped primary cover, I'm told. So TC pipes will fit at the exhaust ports, but I found no clearance worthy of it's name between the left TD pipe and the primary. I now have a SuperTrapp 2-into-1 for a 2008 TC which fits fine.

Samson true duals
My Indie commented that he could pull the primary cover without having to remove the exhaust. If you buy the Samson true dual kit you get the checkmark shifter rod to work around the pipe. The sound of the exhaust is spread across the back of the bike as you putt down the road which I like.A Harley in stereo.
