Default Got a small reminder about gapping spark plugs.

Yesterday I got new plugs. Well today I went to put them in and the bike acted weirdly. I took them out and put the old one in. It acted like it should. I asked my self what's up with that. Then I remembered something about gapping. I called the parts store where I bought the plugs. I asked them if they came pre-gapped. They said only the expensive ones are but the cheap set I got weren't. So I bought a gapping tool and reset the gap to .043 as the manual suggested and all was good afterward. Good news that the deposits on the plugs are the normal grey/white on the electrode instead of the tan. Btw I did turn the idle up from 800-900 to 950-1100.

In essence since I don't change spark plugs often enough,I forgot about proper gapping.

So, did you heed the results of your poll?

Yep,got the Champion RN12YC. The cheap kind for $2.50/per plug. The bike seems to enjoy the new plugs after being properly gapped.

I dont think that the bike was liking the slow idle much. Even though it was at around 800 it taking too long to get to start from cold.

I was just pulling your chain because you origional posed .43 instead of .043. Always check the gaps regardless if there suppose to be pre set or not.

Itdoesn't matter what brand or how much you pay for spark plugs, you should always gap them....

Yep, Champs are what I've used for the last 35 or so years.
