Default 97 RK....CFR exhaust...yes or no?

Since my 96 RK I was looking at has not panned out yet, I found a 97 RK - I don't know yet if it is carbed or efi but it sharp in the pics. It has custom paint, 17K miles, newly rebuilt transmission, apes, and CFR exhaust. I am familiar with CFR's when I read about them when I had my last RK and I remember people having tuning issues because they are so open.

Anybody running CFR's on their EVO? I am new to learning about the EVO and I am just not sure if they take well to certain mods.

Thanks again for the help.

Here is a pic of the '97 bike:

if the bike has a carb (like the one in the picture) you will have no issues. If it is efi, you would likely need to add a power commander or the like to richen the mixture.

OK good to know - thanks. I couldn't tell it was carbed.

From the looks of what is there it looks like a nice scooter! Yep looks carbed. Not easy to put SS air cleaner on MMEFI

I've never used CFRs so I can't say anything about them.

What do they want for the '97?

asking $6300 - has 2 more sets of slip-ons (type not mentioned). I have a message to him that i want to check it out. Hey does the newly rebuilt trans raise a flag? are their common problems with this model/year?

Not to me and I'm unaware of any common problems with that model/year that would necessitate a rebuild.

Once you hear those CFR's it's unlikey you will ever want to remove them. Yeah, from a performance standpoint, they are marginal at best. But there's a reason they get almost $700 for a set. Yeah, they sound that good.

A buddy has them on his 2010 Road King. They sound damned good!

Why was the transmission rebuilt at 17K? They go A LOT LONGER than that before needing a rebuild. 10x? What exactly went wrong? Who did the work?
