Default Frame rust beyond repair, suggestions?

My Road King is in the shop, what we thought would be fixable has extensive rust in the frame at the swing arm mounting area, on both sides. We determined it was beyond repair. Looking for a donor frame but it seems 94-96 are the only frames I can use. Searching ebay and elsewhere, $799 for a questionable straight frame seems to be the norm. I have read that the other years with evo mounts will have problems using my tanks, or rear fender. Any advice?

What started as scraping some peeling paint exposed massive rust, good I found out before something very bad happened.

Start searching craigslist by state. If you google search craigslist by state
you will find a bunch like this one below and some also search eBay in the
same search.

I would buy a donor frame and use it to fix your frame, so you can keep your VIN...save you a lot of headaches.

I think you can buy another 94-96 Road King for $3,000 to $5,000. If you are lucky you can find one with a bad transmission or messed up crankshaft that way you could buy the whole bike for next to nothing.

Keep the best parts of each.

What remains, clean up and sell on eBay to recoup some cost.

My dad still has his 2008 Road King for sale with only 10,000 miles with or without an enclosed trailer by the way.

If you love THIS bike, do what you have to.

Financially, the smart money is on buying a new, old Evo and parting out what you have
