Default Just done plugs and leads

So just done new plugs and leads.

I feel so silly lol. It's a simple job and one I've done hundreds of times on other vehicles but man with the Harley I'm so ocd and worried about everything.

I was also shocked I wound the plugs in finger tight and then done about 1/2 -3/4 of a turn. I know most say 1/4 after finger tight but... There was hardly any resistance there. I could have kept going.

I like it when a plug goes nice and tight with the socket and then a little nip but the minimal resistance on this was like nothing I've ever worked on before.

Hopefully all is ok.

Screw them down until they are snug. You have to crush the sealing washer on new plugs. There is a torque spec in the manual.

I don't have a manual. Inherited bike from me dad.

More worried about over tightening than not enough. Don't wanna strip threads.

Plus wouldn't get a Tourque wrench in there anyway the fuel tap is in the way.

You would have to really gorilla it to strip the threads . Mainly, make sure you use anti-seize on the threads and never remove them when the engine is hot.

You don't need the torque wrench but you do need to tighten them down good and snug!!!!

Went and checked them to be sure and no way is 1/4 turn enough. You need to nip them up with a wrench until snug and then 1/4 turn.

Haynes manual said finger tight then 1/4 that's not enough. Anyway all done now. Always the easy jobs lol

Do yourself a favor and throw that thing in the trash!!!!!!!!!!!

Get an OEM Factory Service manual and an OEM Parts book for your bike.
The factory books are way, way better than the Haynes!!!!!!

Any dealership, e-bay, possibly even craigslist.
