Default 1996 EVO EFI stumbling in the heat???

Wifey's EVO EFI has just started when it's hot. It will cut 3-4 times for about a second then run fine for a while. It runs perfectly when the weather is cool.

I wasn't sure about the heat correlation at first so I went over everything that might have been a problem. Found some corrosion on the fuel pump fuse. The bike ran fine for 3 hours this morning so I thought I had solved the problem. Then it started stumbling again when the temperature hit the high 80s.

I'm wondering if there is a problem with the head temperature sensor??

Any other ideas?

Thanks.

Joe

Temp sensor is a usual suspect. Pull your codes, it may or not throw a code.

Or something like a circuit breaker getting flakey...easy enough to replace them. YD

Probably HTS as others have said, but check for the infamous dripping goo under the nosecone. The cam sensor could be going bad, and acting up when it gets warm.

If the intake air temperature sensor was going bad, couldn't that also be a cause?

larsfum: I don't know what infamous dripping goo is all about. Haven't heard that one.

Also, don't you mean CRANK position sensor?

I've read here that some of the later ignition triggers (which detect the cam position-hence "cam sensor"?) have been known to melt from prolonged exposure to heat.
