You sir, are why they make Service Manuals...

Do Not neglect to get that engine good and Warm before an oil change...IE After a Ride.
With the Mid years [late 70's thru '80's] it is actually easier, and less mess, to simply remove the Feed Line at the oil pump to drain the Oil Tank. For me anyway.

It's in the sump, on the left hand side, will face out to the left or forwards. You don't need a manual if you keep sending me Tequila....

Every time I make it to the post office to send you a bottle of Tequila I find that all the Tequila has somehow evaporated and is all gone!!!!!!

Maybe next time the Tequila won't evaporate!!!!

Isn't an 86 in the bottom of the oil tank?

I thought that an '86 would be the same as my '90:

- Remove right side saddlebag.
- Remove dipstick.
- Remove Phillips head screw at bottom of right side cover, then remove the cover.

Drain plug is now visible at bottom of oil tank.
