S&s 111
Talked to S&S today about which engine I should buy for longevity & power. Once again the answer was "111". S&S Said it pumps out about 123 lbs torque.
Thinking about doing it as soon as I pay off a couple bills in the next few months. Any S&S 111 owners out there care to chime in?

But I do love the sound of a dragster..
I would guess 130 lbs torque on my wide glide should get me into a better class of street walkers.
Im pretty serious about making it happen when I get some bills paid here shortly. Still cant decide on the natural or black & chrome like what's on it now. The natural you don't have to keep the paint looking new.

S&S products are solid as a rock, have they had some engine issues Yes but the ratio is low. Engine resale value stays strong with a S&S and the 111" is a good real world engine plus if you get bored with it, compression bump to 10.5 with the same 585 cam, it becomes a handful. Numbers have it pulled back for market reliability but a lot left on the table for giddy up and no doubt the crank and block can handle what is thrown at it.
Not wanting to start a war but a honest opinion is the square bore Ultima 113" will hand the 111" a bench seat but it's resale value isn't as strong, can be a hit and miss product, performance and price is it's strength. I know what a Ultima can do WHEN it is right and mine currently has many S&S parts in it but also know what I threw at my S&S flywheeled 89" and consider the rotating assembly bullet proof.
The 111" can do anything you need in real world riding but it is what it is, don't think you can attack 120R twinkies or big cube Evo's in it's stock form but is stout enough for enhancements to challenge them and still reliable. I say win win with the purchase

Thanks Bagger, Im all most too old for drag racing so a dependable 130 lbs torque and 9.8-1 compression should keep me happy and keep the pings away.
The 111 is a bottom end torquer so I would think it is plenty fast 0-100+ without need for excuses, so if you out run it you deserve the trophy 2 beers.
Im more interested in healthy power yet it will all ways get me home.

Not so sure about that. Before I went to the 96" I was pulling away from 110 CVO's. And this (the last build of my Evo) I'm expect 116tq 110hp. Maybe even a tad more....
