It's all about character.
My '84 Evo powered bagger reminds me of my shovelhead FLH days.... the sound, the torque, almost a vintage feel without the vibration and poor handling of the older bikes.
I had a twin cam 10 years ago. Las Vegas cop bike. Loved the solo saddle. It was reliable as could be. Sold it when I got tired of riding in California. Figured at the age of 60 I had already consumed my 9 lives. Then moved to Arizona and got Bertha.
Wife wants to get back into 2 up riding so will probably look around for something a little more user friendly. Bertha will stay as my solo rider. She checks all the boxes in terms of character.
Any of you guys own an Indian? I haven't ridden one but read good things about them.

Id like to have a 98 King with a blown Engine so I could drop a v111 in it.

Ive gotta agree, the previous weekend my local dealer had a demo day. i rode the new fatboy, a road kink, and the something-something-glide-ultra-mega-classic. they all rode just fine, and ive got to say the abs is out of this world. but they all had this, blah feel, there was no soul. no pizzaz, sluggish, granted they could all move once going.
but my 94 fatboy, shes got personality. a life of her own lacking in all those machines.
my buddy with a 2006 wide glide, and an 2009 sporty 1200, even says that the evos all have "something" missing in the newer ones.

Something that stood out on the 2017 Street Glide was the handling, brakes, and suspension which were vastly superior to my bike and any of the twin cams I tried. As a result, I now have many boxes of parts laying around waiting for me to find the time to perform upgrades to these three areas.
While the M8 is no Evo, I find it to be a natural successor to the Evo whereas the twin cam was a side step.
I monitor the M8 section of this forum, and while the vast majority of those are trouble free, almost all the ones that do have problems inevitably end up being somehow related to the oil system in one way or another. HD is doing the right thing in nearly all of those cases, but right now at least one person I know of is getting the **** end of the stick regarding engine failure due to him using a non compliant tuner which violates the EPA ruling.
Hold onto these Evo's. They just don't make things like they used to.
