Also, what's your oil consumption like? In my experience, by the time you have visible oil smoke your motor will be consuming a LOT of oil.
As a general rule,
just bad valve seals will only make a motor smoke on crank-up...once it is running no noticable smoke...lot of older motors didn't even have valve seals.
