Default Dark horse Crankshaft

Has anyone used a Darkhorse balanced Crank in their Evo motor? If so did it make a noticeable difference in Vibration? I believe I am going to do a complete rebuild in the fall. I'm starting to get weeping gaskets at the cylinder base and the rocker covers. I am keeping the bike so I want to do it right the 1st time. Thanks in advance!!

Dark Horse has a great name but more of a TC specialist, are they rebuilding yours? are you purchasing a crank straight out? The reason why I'm asking is if you are going to buy a crank it would be wise to go ahead and buy the S&S 4 5/8 assembly and would consider it bullet proof from beating the hell out of one plus the best bang for the buck 89"

Sorry, no Dark Horse Evo experiance but wouldn't hesitate to use their services

If there is nothing wrong with the stock crank I would like to reuse it. I only want to be in there once and would like to do it right the 1st time. Did the S&S smooth out your engine or was it just a bullet proof replacement?

Darkhorse did my crank when I had my motor rebuilt.

The crank was sent to Darkhorse CrankWorks. Once they took the crank apart, they determined that the inner crank bearing was shot and had to put oversize bushings and pins in the connecting rods. The cases were sent to Darkhorse and they repaired the Timken/Main bearing bore as main bearings were loose in case. Darkhorse also line bored and lapped the cases and put the bottom end back together and sent it back to my indy.

Nice and smooth due to the crank work that Darkhorse did.

Not Darkhorse but mine was split and flywheel reworked at Kendall Johnson's and it's smooth and fast. I love the way it runs, awesome lope to the engine and it runs away from most 96"'s. It was originally built in '04 and developed a shudder so I had it rebuilt to the same specs. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Curious if you guys know what balance factor was used on your cranks.

I'm not sure, I just know they reworked it and replaced the pins.

johnjzjz recommends balancing it to 60 percent.
