Starter Recommendations.......
Think my starter is on its way out on my 98 Evo. The drive doesn't always engage with the ring gear, just spins. I was wondering if anyone could recommend a decent starter. I have compression releases so I don't think I need a super duper one. 1.4kw should do it... Any and all Recommendations would be appreciated...Thanx Bob..,

Sounds like you need a starter clutch...not a starter.

Shipped... Griz tells me that he's had his now for three years in his 96" build with no compression releases and never had a problem. So I just ordered one in wrinkle black. We'll see how it does. My current chrome cheepo I have lasted 8 years. Can't bitch about that I guess... Thanx guys.......

I agree with both you guys. OEM is always a good way to go. Ibdagriz hooked me up with a company in West Virginia, EMS. They carry the starters in 1.4 kw. For $103

I've been pounding for quite a few years with a Allballs 1.4, lost one starter clutch with the 89" and one with the big cube so it isn't bullet proof but hasn't had a easy cranking life.
When I had the big cube compression bumped up, the Allballs was getting abused on starts even with compression releases, it started on hot days but screamed "your a idiot" during engagement
